When is this trip? If you have enough lead time, you might see if someone at the SF office can mail the cards to you when they arrive - though of course there is always the risk that they'll get lost, so may not be worth it to save $10 (BART's youth fare is 50%, but only if you have the Youth Clipper Card).įinal comment - if you are considering taking a taxi or uber/lyft at any point, know that legally, the seven-year-old must ride in a child safety seat/booster, and those services will not provide one. If you plan to take BART from the airport, and you don't yet have the kids' Youth Clipper Cards, there's no way around just buying them each a Plastic Clipper Card (which they tap, not swipe) for $3, and loading full adult fare onto it - currently $10. Just a reminder that on the Cable Car, you pay every time you board - there are no transfers included in the fare payment. That Passport is available on Clipper, but costs a whopping $24!! On Muni Mobile, that passport costs $13 (which is equal to one $8 cable car ride plus a standard $5 day pass). Second (more extreme) example - on the day you plan to ride cable cars, you might choose to get a Muni One-Day Visitor Passport, valid for unlimited rides on all Muni INCLUDING cable cars. You can also get that pass with $5 cash to the driver (let them know you want a day pass before you insert the fare), but it is NOT available on Clipper. (Single fare is $2.50, valid for two hours of transfers). While Clipper App/Card will work on every transit agency in the Bay Area - including Cable Cars -, they aren't the best value- option in every case.įor example, using the MUNI Mobile app, you have the option to get a day pass for $5 that is good on all MUNI vehicles, except Cable Cars, for the entire day.
